The old building is overused, hence the new building
The present Parliament House was built 96 years ago in 1927. In March 2020, the government told Parliament that the old building was overused and deteriorating. Also the old building does not have enough space to accommodate the MPs which will increase after the new delimitation of Lok Sabha seats. A new building has been constructed for this reason.
