New Delhi: The usual bullishness seen in gold yesterday is seen to be washed away today. There has been a big gap in the prices of gold and silver. Silver has dropped below the 71,000 level today, while gold has also lost its 60,000 level. At 10.40 am today on MCX, gold for June futures was trading down 0.23 per cent at Rs 59,710 per 10 gram bar, while silver for July futures was trading at Rs 70,914 per kg bar, down 0.24 per cent. After pressure is seen at the global level in gold and silver, the same situation is being seen at the local level as well. It is important here that in the new financial year, gold touched a new record level twice within the last 4 months and made its new record price at the level of 61,552 rupees (Gold record price).

At 10.40 am today on MCX, gold for June futures was trading down 0.23 per cent at Rs 59,710 per 10 gram bar, while silver for July futures was trading at Rs 70,914 per kg bar, down 0.24 per cent.

On February 2, nearly two and a half years after August 2020, gold crossed the 58,000 mark and hit a new record high of Rs 58,660. However, gold has been making new record highs for one and a half to two consecutive months. Today i.e. on 5th May 2023, gold again rose unusually and made its new record price. One tola of gold traded at Rs 61,552 as per this new record price recorded on MCX.

Gold purity criteria
999 is engraved on 24 carat gold jewellery, while 958 on 23 carat gold, 916 on 22 carat, 875 on 21 carat and 750 on 18 carat pure gold. 24 karat gold is about 99.9% pure while 22 karat gold is 91 percent pure. 22 carat gold is alloyed with other metals like copper, silver and zinc to make jewellery. Usually 24 carat pure gold jewelry is not made. All these ornaments are hallmarked according to carat.
