|Shri Jagannath ji|
Shri Jagannath ji is considered as the main deity of Utkal region. The Vaishnavism here believes that the symbol of the couple idol of Radha and Shri Krishna is Shri Jagannath himself.
In the form of this symbol, the whole world has emerged from Shri Jagannath. Shri Jagannath ji is the Supreme Lord and Shri Krishna is a form of his art. Such a belief is of the Panch Sakhas, the disciples of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
The Rath Yatra of Purna Paratpar Lord Shri Jagannath ji begins at Jagannathpuri on Ashadh Shukla Dwitiya. This Rath Yatra is also the main festival of Puri. To participate in it, thousands, lakhs of children, old, young, women come from remote areas of the country for its darshan benefit.

In the Rath Yatra, Shri Balarama on the Taal Dhwaj, followed by Mata Subhadra and Sudarshan Chakra on the Padma Dhwaja chariot, and finally Shri Jagannath ji on the Garuna Dhwaja or the chariot named Nandighosh. The Taladhwaj Ratha is 65 feet long, 65 feet wide and 45 feet high. It has 17 wheels of 7 feet diameter.
The chariot of Balabhadra ji is given to Taldhwaj and the chariot of Subhadra ji is Devlan. Some are smaller than Jagannath’s chariot. By the evening all these three chariots reach the temple. The next day the Lord enters the temple after getting down from the chariot and stays there for seven days.
The darshan of Shri Jagannath ji during these nine days in the Gundicha temple is called Aap-darshan. The Prasad of Shri Jagannath ji is considered as Mahaprasad whereas the offerings of other pilgrimages are generally called Prasad. The prasad of Shri Jagannath ji got the form of Mahaprasad through Mahaprabhu Ballabhacharya ji.
It is said that in order to test the loyalty of Mahaprabhu Ballabhacharya, on reaching Puri on the day of his Ekadashi fast, someone gave prasad in the temple itself. Mahaprabhu spent night after day doing prasad with prasad in his hand. On the next day, at the end of the eulogy on Dwadashi, that Prasad was accepted and that Prasad got the distinction of Mahaprasad. coconut, lye,

boon to devarshi narada.
In the Rath Yatra of Shri Jagannath ji, Lord Shri Krishna is not accompanied by Radha or Rukmini, but Balarama and Subhadra are there. His story is popular like this – One night while sleeping in Dwarka, Shri Krishna, Rukmini etc., suddenly spoke Radhe-Radhe in his sleep. The queens were surprised.
On waking up, Shri Krishna did not let his mood manifest, but Rukmini talked to other queens that, I hear there is a gopakumari named Radha in Vrindavan, whom the Lord has not forgotten even after so much devotion to all of us. Mother Rohini knew very well about Radha’s mystic Raas Leelas with Shri Krishna. A
ll the queens pleaded to get information from him. At first, Mata Rohini tried to avoid it, but on the stubbornness of the queens, she said, okay. Listen, first put Subhadra on the guard, no one can come in, even if it is Balarama or Sri Krishna.
As soon as Mata Rohini started the story, Shri Krishna and Balaram suddenly appeared towards Antarpur. Subhadra stopped him at the door after giving a valid reason. The talks of Shri Krishna and Radha’s Rasleela from the inner city were heard by both Shri Krishna and Balram.
By listening to him, a wonderful love interest began to emerge in the limbs of Shri Krishna and Balarama. Simultaneously Subhadra also started getting emotional. The condition of all the three has become such that even after looking carefully, no one’s hands and feet etc. were clearly visible. The Sudarshana Chakra thawed. It assumed a long shape. It was a proud scene of the greatness of Mata Radhika.
With the sudden arrival of Narada, all three of them became undone. It was Narada who prayed to Shri Bhagwan that, O Lord, in which I have seen the engrossed idols of all four of you, may they always be adorned on the earth for the sight of the common people. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Mahaprabhu said aastu.
It is said that King Indradyumna, who lived near Nilanchal Sagar (Orissa) with his family, saw a giant wood in the sea. Vishwakarma himself appeared in the form of an old carpenter as soon as the king decided to get Vishnu idol built from him. He put a condition for making the idol that no one should come in the house where I will make the idol till the idol is fully formed.
The king accepted it. They started making idols inside a house near the place where Shri Jagannath ji’s temple is today. The king’s family members did not know who the old carpenter was.
After the door of the house was closed for several days, the queen wondered how she would be able to work as a carpenter without eating or drinking. By now he would be alive or dead. The Maharani made the Maharaja aware of her instinctive doubts. The old carpenter was nowhere to be found when the Maharaja opened the doors, but Shri Jagannath, half-built by him,
The Maharaja and the Maharani became sad. But at that very moment both of them heard Akashvani, ‘Don’t be sad in vain, we want to remain in this form, get the idols sanctified with material etc.’ Even today those incomplete and obscure idols are adorned and revered in Purushottam Puri’s Rath Yatra and temple.
For the purpose of fulfilling the desire of Mata Subhadra to visit Dwarka, Shri Krishna and Balarama had got them done by sitting in separate chariots. In the memory of Mata Subhadra’s city tour, this Rath Yatra is held every year in Puri.
